ARCHIVE: APRIL FOOL 2021

Everyone’s talking about Non Fungible Tokens (NFTs), including Quadient. How this approach to blockchain-based commoditization of digital assets become a sensation overnight, we may never know. For enterprise software customers, NFTs offer a new solution to the problems of authenticity, access and accountability that arise in the crypto-era. We’ll look at this from the five C’s perspective; CFO, CIO, CTO, CEO and CX.

For the CFO, NFTs are a way to prove the authenticity of a software asset in an encrypted, yet verifiable manner that lets them track their capital purchases as they depreciate through their useful life. For the CTO, it means access to red-carpet levels support as the prestige of having an NFT-secured software asset means that the customer support people you engage with will never ask you to reboot or restart because a genius like you has already tried rebooting.

For the CMO, NFTs are a way to broadcast the value the business places on their technology by owning a verifiable, numbered and expensive limited edition of something infinitely available. Finally, the CEO gains peace of mind knowing that critical software assets are more secure than being in an undisclosed location because they are broken up and distributed across millions of undisclosed locations simultaneously, yet available to be authenticated on-demand.

But, in the age of CX, the NFT offers customers the chance to be a part of something special. A memory to HOLD onto for today, and not much beyond. Let’s look forward to tomorrow when the conversation goes beyond the simple realm of possibilities of NFT-based software distribution.

As strategic software asset ownership shifts throughout the enterprise, Quadient continues to lead in innovation and strives to be a reliable partner to the market’s leading communicators. This is even more important in times of extreme change, and our customers’ needs continue to evolve since our earliest versions of PrintNet were protected by parallel port dongles. We switched to USB dongles in the 2000s and then evolved to software license keys shortly afterwards. In 2018, we introduced cloud-based entitlement management.

Unlike some of our competitors who take advantage of existing customers, Quadient is happy to convert your existing licenses to Non-Fungible Tokens for the latest in IP allocation – at no cost for one day this month! Click here for more details.
